1997 Medieval Madness
Here's a unique game that has all the elements that make it my favourite game of all. Having said that, my wife can't understand what the fuss is all about and rarely plays it. Oh well, I guess that's why I have a few different games. The prices on eBay and elsewhere on the web have risen over the last few years - this game is now one of the most expensive games to purchase.
Basically this is a target approach game - aim for one of 8 laneways or ramps. Clockwise you have the catapult, joust, peasants ramp, lock gate, castle gate, merlin hole, dragon/damsel ramp, and sword fight. The layout is very similar to a previous game by Brian Eddy called Attack From Mars.
I like the simple layout, but what really entertains is the castle being destroyed and the trolls popping up out of the playfield to taunt you. Another great idea was to add voice overtones that remind the player of French knights from the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This game is about the evil King of Payne and his 5 goofy knights - the Duke of Bourbon, Lord Howard Hurts (say it fast a few times), The Earl of Ego, Sir Psycho and Francois du Grimm.
Take a look at these special pictures of some rare MM artwork, playfield layouts and more from Expo 2004.
