1997 Bally Cirqus Voltaire

A family favourite - especially for my wife. But while I had a lot of fun with this game, it recently went in a trade for a NGG. After picking up this game in late 2001, I was a little disappointed with some of the issues such as balls getting stuck everywhere. Then the left slingshot went haywire and melted the coil, so I had to have the transistor and pre-transistors replaced on the driver board.

Then a miracle occurred - new ROM software appeared in early '02 that was specifically for home users - 2.0H, and the rest is history. The software upgrades changed my mind about this game completely - I would say it challenges Medieval Madness as my favourite game of all.

Another beautiful game artistically, with green and purple on the cabinet and multicolours on the playfield. Unique features include a backbox toy cannon which fires a plastic ball during certain sequences and the first game to feature a DMD inside the playfield section.

The evil Ringmaster predominates this game, hurling insults at you and calling your mother names! A disappearing jet bumper and 2 not-so-easy to make ramps compete with the menagerie ball, which acts as a randomizer towards the pinball. Great music and a neon lamp down one side complete the effects.
